What are transportation emissions?

Transportation emissions come from all the vehicles we use to get around – planes, trains, automobiles, buses, boats, subways, and the like. It also includes emissions from the refrigerants used in vehicle air conditioners. Transportation emissions don’t include the emissions from shipping goods, or the emissions from manufacturing vehicles—those are included in consumables. Transportation emissions make up about 21% of the average American’s footprint.
